Seeking leads in last month’s shooting of 15-year-old Yuridia “Judy” Balbuena and her 7-month-old fetus, police will pass out fliers this afternoon asking for the public’s help and announcing a $25,000 reward. Balbuena died after being struck by a bullet shot through the door of the converted garage where she lived with her extended family and 19-year-old boyfriend. Her fetus was delivered by Caesarean section but died about nine hours later. Neighbors said they saw a man of medium build in his teens or early 20s run from the driveway of the home and jump a fence to a nearby school. Police, who will begin distributing fliers near the shooting site in the 2000 block of Wallace Avenue, are calling the crime a double homicide and believe it may be gang related.
