UC Irvine is seeking local high school students interested in helping foreign exchange students learn English.
A group of Japanese students will be arriving in July to begin a three-week English course. Local students are needed to spend time with them and act as tour guides. No knowledge of Japanese is required.
Kae Sawyer, coordinator of theprogram, said this is a great learning opportunity. She said students interested in other cultures and meeting new people are perfect candidates. “All we ask is for an interest in Japanese language and culture,” Sawyer said.
The program begins July 12 and ends Aug. 2. For information: (949) 824-7664.
