Timing Is Everything

The time between Christmas and New Year’s, when Cathy LaScola Mueller went to London’s British Museum and complained of crowds, is a very busy time (“Flunking Egyptology,” Letters, May 16).
We went to London in January. There were no crowds. Everything was open. Some places had shortened hours, but usually they just closed an hour early. A few things were open only on weekends, but you just needed to check ahead of time.
We stayed near the British Museum and went three times. It was great. Other attractions in London and other cities were uncrowded. We had a great time.
