Own Goal Lifts Kansas City Over Dallas, 1-0

Midfielder Chad Deering of the Dallas Burn accidentally deflected a shot into his own goal, giving the Kansas City Wizards a 1-0 victory Saturday night before a crowd of 9,336 at Kansas City.
The goal came in the 61st minute, when Wizard forward Chris Brown’s shot bounced off Burn goalkeeper Matt Jordan to Deering, who deflected it into the goal.
Dallas (7-5) managed only nine shots, three on goal. Kansas City (2-10) attempted 18, eight on goal.
Colorado 1, New York-New Jersey 0--Jorge Dely Valdes headed in a corner kick by Anders Limpar in the 88th minute to lift the Rapids over the MetroStars in front of 13,723 at East Rutherford, N.J.
The victory was the eighth in nine matches for the Rapids (8-3). The MetroStars (4-8) have lost seven of eight and four in a row.
San Jose 2, Tampa Bay 1--Defender Jamie Clark scored the lone shootout goal to give the Clash (8-5) the victory over the Mutiny (6-6) before a crowd of 14,472 at San Jose.
The Clash improved to 7-0 in shootouts this season.
