Minorities on TV
Regarding Harry Pachon and Manuel Valencia’s June 7 commentary relative to the absence of minorities in the television fall season premiere, it’s rather disheartening that these issues still arise as we enter the 21st century. Ethnic and cultural diversity are such a rich part of life in the U.S. It’s a shame that television executives cannot find a way to reflect this in their programming.
I encourage anyone interested in correcting this gross negligence and injustice to boycott at least the first three episodes of the 26 new programs debuting this fall. Hopefully, the power of tuning out will bring about a speedy correction.
