“Pyramid Victims Accused of Scam of Their Own,” Crime Watch column, June 7.
I was embarrassed by your attempt to poke fun at someone in pain. Whether in a criminal or civil matter, being named as a defendant is a painful and confusing experience, not a laughing matter.
Our legal system is full of safeguards to ferret out the truth, and that legal process apparently just began in this matter. Your article appeared to convict these individuals without any honest, in-depth analysis of the facts and law.
Finally, I found your insinuations about the character of these people insulting. I expect The Times to treat us, the citizens of this community, more fairly and humanely.
