Workers at the Irvine Animal Care Center are trying to dispel myths about pit bull terriers, an often misunderstood breed of dog. The center will hold a free seminar Saturday for dog lovers and animal-care personnel on pit bulls and their place in society. Tia Torres, an authority on pit bulls, will discuss and demonstrate breed characteristics and training techniques. The seminar will run from 1 to 3 p.m. at the center, 6443 Oak Canyon. Reservations are requested and can be made by calling (949) 724-7745.
