The City Council tonight will consider an ordinance to begin a $600 monthly health benefit and a $350 monthly car allowance for council members. A 5% salary increase for council members, approved in concept by the council last month, cannot take effect until one or more members are sworn in for a new term. The earliest a council pay raise could take effect would be after the November 2000 election. The council will also consider stipend and health benefits for planning commissioners. The council meets at 7 p.m. in chambers, 33282 Golden Lantern. Information: (949) 248-9890.
