Residents who run a business from home...
Residents who run a business from home no longer will have to pay a $30 permit fee. The City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to drop the charge, but it will keep the guidelines for operating a home business. A business must be inside the house or garage, and no advertising signs are allowed on the property. The council also voted to add a guideline limiting traffic near home businesses, such as delivery trucks dropping off packages.
The city will lose about $3,000 in revenue, but officials noted that the Planning Department won’t have to spend time processing the applications.
