Suspect Identified in Fatal Stabbing
Authorities on Wednesday identified Jose Jesus Gonzalez Guzman, 36, as the man they believe to be responsible in the stabbing death of a Thousand Oaks man last month.
Guzman lived in the house in the 800 block of Avenida de los Arboles where Antonio Gonzalez, 45, was stabbed June 26, said Sheriff’s Capt. Keith Parks.
At the time of his death, Gonzalez, who lived nearby, was at Guzman’s house drinking beer with several people, Parks said.
Guzman and Gonzalez began to argue, and Guzman allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Gonzalez in the chest, abdomen and neck, Parks said.
Gonzalez died on the sidewalk in front of the house. Detectives don’t know what the argument was about, Parks said.
Detectives believe Guzman fled to Mexico, where he has family, Parks said.
Authorities were also seeking a second man who lived at the house for questioning.
Pablo Figueroa, 48, was stabbed in the hand while trying to intervene in the attack, Parks said. Figueroa also fled after the stabbing, and his whereabouts is unknown.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call detectives at 654-2311.
