Atheist’s Bible Is a Hot Commodity

The personal belongings of the nation’s most prominent atheist went up for sale, bringing $10 for a penny with “In God We Trust” crossed out and $2,000 for a Bible. The IRS seized Madalyn Murray O’Hair’s belongings to pay back taxes after she disappeared in September 1995. Most of O’Hair’s belongings sold quickly, but her most personal items--her diaries, birth certificate and photographs--remain in a safe deposit box in an Austin, Texas, bank.
