Porter Ranch Residents to Honor Firefighters
Porter Ranch residents will hold a block party today to honor county and city firefighters who battled brush fires in the northern San Fernando Valley earlier this month.
“The fires came through brutally, and we said we have to support our wonderful firefighters, who are always protecting us, our assets and our community,” said block party chairwoman Jane Lowenthal.
Firefighters will be recognized during an award ceremony at 1:30 p.m. There will be a vintage firetruck, hot dogs, cotton candy and games for kids at the event from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the corner of Winnetka Avenue and Rinaldi Street, Lowenthal said.
