Flower Sales to Aid Cancer Research
The American Cancer Society and its Ventura County offices will celebrate their 14th annual Daffodil Days campaign in March by selling the bright yellow blossoms to raise money for research.
Advance flower sales will be done during February with order forms available at business offices and cancer society units throughout the county.
Orders also can be placed by calling one of the American Cancer Society offices in Oxnard, Ventura, Simi Valley or Thousand Oaks.
Prices range from $10 to $110 for a lavish arrangement. Free delivery the week of March 15 is available for purchases of more than $50. Other orders can be picked up that same week from participating florists.
People can buy the flowers for family members, friends or co-workers or purchase a $15 bouquet that will be delivered anonymously and free of charge to a cancer patient at a hospital or health care center in the county.
Seventy-four cents of every dollar raised will be spent on cancer research, patient services and education programs, said Lynda Thomas, a local event chairwoman. The cancer society hopes to raise $125,000 in the county.
