James Martinez of Newport Beach won the lightweight men’s final at the World Indoor Rowing Championships Sunday in Boston. The race was contested on stationary rowing machines.

Martinez, a five-year member of the U.S. national rowing team, won with a time of 6 minutes 19.6 seconds for 2,000 meters and beat runner-up Fabio Calvelli of Italy by 2.8 seconds.
