Artwork from more than 60 Spurgeon Intermediate School sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders will be on display at Martinez Book and Art Gallery, 200 N. Main St., through Saturday. “The Spirit of the Matter” features flexible figures that symbolize such personal characteristics as the spirits of love and adventure. The works are created from wire wrapped in colorful fabric strips. Each 12-inch sculpture is mounted on a colored background, covering an entire wall of the gallery.
