Sillito to Step In for Ill Conductor

Kenneth Sillito will replace Iona Brown as conductor of the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields program March 7 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa because Brown is ill, center officials have announced. Sillito is artistic director of the British ensemble. The 4 p.m. program will include Mozart’s Divertimento in D, K. 136, Purcell’s Chaconne, Britten’s “Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge,” and Bartok’s Divertimento, replacing Strauss’ “Metamorphosen.” $15 to $60.
