AMR Corp., parent of No. 2 air carrier American Airlines, said it’s willing to have a mediator or arbitrator help settle its labor dispute with the Allied Pilots Assn. if current negotiations fail. AMR said a meeting of the union’s board today is “the next critical step” in resolving an impasse over pay and seniority guidelines for pilots of low-fare carrier Reno Air Inc. The dispute led members of the 9,200-member union to stage a protest that canceled 6,600 flights earlier this month.
