Loyola Marymount 70, Portland 61--Sophomore forward Elton Mashack scored 18 points as the Lions took a 20-point first-half lead at Gersten Pavilion and assured themselves of being the fifth-seeded team for next week’s West Coast Conference tournament.

Senior guard Willie Allen scored 15 points and senior point guard Haywood Eaddy added 12 and a career-high 12 assists as Loyola Marymount (11-14, 6-7) ended a three-game losing streak.

Loyola hosts Gonzaga tonight at 7.
