They Weren’t Amateurs With Drinks on Links
The present breed of golfer tends to be a soft lot. If the AT&T; Pebble Beach were still the Crosby Clambake, the tiny fortification flasks formerly toted by the erstwhile amateur ranks could certainly dispense the impetus required to finish play during inclement weather. Maybe then, 72 holes might once again become a reality on the Monterey Peninsula, come rain or come shine. Long live Phil Harris and friends.
