Bauer to Speak During Leadership Week
Gary L. Bauer, president of Family Research Council and a potential GOP candidate for the 2000 presidential race, has been chosen as guest speaker for the 35th Orange Coast Christian Leadership Week, which will kick off with “Breakfast with the Mayors” at the Doubletree Hotel in Costa Mesa on March 11.
The 7:30 a.m. breakfast, which costs $25, aims to bring the mayors and communities of Costa Mesa, Newport Beach, Irvine and surrounding areas together.
Bauer, 52, served as a high-ranking Reagan administration official and later took over and built the Family Research Council, an influential national conservative advocacy organization.
Bauer has written three books including “Children at Risk: The Battle for the Hearts.” His articles and columns, on issues ranging from Social Security reform and educational policy to human rights and religious persecution, have appeared in newspapers across the country.
