Newport Harbor 7, Foothill 3--Kendra Cox scored four goals and Erin Kennedy made four saves for Newport Harbor (15-5), which pulled away in the second half, outscoring Foothill, 3-0. Teresa Gorbett scored two goals for Foothill (12-7). The Sailors play University at 4 p.m. today at Corona del Mar.
Rosary 9, Arlington 7--Natalie Golda scored four goals for Rosary, which took a 7-2 lead at the half.
In first-round games:
Irvine 15, Palos Verdes Chadwick 2--Nicole Huszcz scored four goals and Lezak had three for Irvine, which led 9-0 after the first quarter.
Marina 16, Corona del Mar 0--Cara Chlibicki had five goals to lead the Vikings (15-5). Corona del Mar is 5-13.
Rosary 13, Irvine B 7--Rosary went on a 6-2 run in the first quarter and led, 10-3, after the second quarter. Golda scored five goals and Julie Henn had four for the Royals.
Santa Margarita 4, Aliso Niguel 1--Jamie Kroeze scored three goals for Santa Margarita.
In Academy League boys’ basketball:
Fairmont 55, Southern California Christian 54--Ashurit Multani made a half-court shot on the buzzer for Fairmont (2-17, 1-7). Mike Bejach had a game-high 25 and James Brantley had 12 for SCC (5-17, 1-7).
In the Garden Grove League:
La Quinta 54, Los Amigos 32--Chris Smith scored 16 points and Ben Fredrickson 14 for host La Quinta (15-8, 7-3). Los Amigos fell to 15-10, 6-5.
In Garden Grove League wrestling:
Rancho Alamitos 44, Los Amigos 25--Rancho Alamitos’ Albert Valencia defeated defending Southern Section champion Walter Hernandez in the 121-pound class with a 6-1 decision.
Jason Figueroa had a first-period victory for Rancho Alamitos (9-8, 5-1), pinning Miguel Vasconselos in 1 minute 58 seconds at 154 pounds.
In the Golden West League:
No. 1 Santa Ana 61, Westminster 12--Carlos Huerta (125) and Jessie Hernandez (160) both won by pin for visiting Santa Ana (11-0, 4-0). Westminster is 0-4 in league.
