Shea Ralph scored 18 points Wednesday night as top-ranked Connecticut defeated Oklahoma, 84-68, in front of 10,713 at Norman, Okla.--the largest crowd to ever watch a women’s basketball game in Oklahoma.
The Huskies (9-0) made 48% of their shots in dropping the Sooners to 9-3.
No. 3 Louisiana Tech 88, Akron 61--Betty Lennox had 23 points, seven assists and seven steals to lead the Lady Techsters (9-1) over the Zips (3-8) in the final game of the Holiday Classic at Ruston, La.
No. 5 Georgia 78, East Tennessee State 51--Georgia Coach Andy Landers reached the 500-victory plateau as the Lady Bulldogs (14-1) rolled over the Lady Buccaneers (4-5) at Athens, Ga.
Landers, 47, is 500-149 in 21 seasons at Georgia. Among women’s Division I coaches, only Vivian Stringer, Jody Conradt and Pat Summitt reached 500 victories in fewer games.
No. 10 Notre Dame 88, Valparaiso 63--Ruth Riley had 15 points and eight rebounds to lead the Irish (8-2) over the Crusaders (6-4) at South Bend, Ind.
No. 19 Arizona 80, Louisville 70--Lisa Griffith had 19 points and six assists as the Wildcats (11-1) defeated the Cardinals (7-4) in the championship game of the Holiday Classic at Louisville, Ky.
