Contract negotiations stalled again Tuesday between the Santa Ana Unified School District and its 3,000 teachers and 1,900 classified employees. The employees have been working without contracts since July and had hoped to reach a tentative agreement before the winter break, which begins Friday. That will not happen now. Representatives for the Santa Ana Educators Assn. say they hoped to be rewarded for their part in the successful passage of the $145-million facilities bond last month. A district trustee said they would like to pay the teachers more, but without additional state or federal funds for raises, salary increases must come from the district’s already strapped general fund.
