Mother, Child Found Slain

The bodies of a mother and child who had been shot were found in a house in South Los Angeles on Friday, police said.

The 39-year-old woman and 7-year-old girl were discovered about 11 a.m. at 631 W. Gage Ave., authorities said.

The bodies were found when someone from the woman’s workplace went to the home to check on her, said Det. Don Richards of the Los Angeles Police Department. He said it was “uncharacteristic” of the woman to miss work.

“There’s no suspect at this point,” Richards said. “We’re at the beginning stages of a very intense investigation.”
