SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO
The City Council will meet tonight to consider a formal request for permission from the State Water Resources Board to pump ground water from the San Juan Basin on an annual basis. The application would be made with the Capistrano Valley Water District.
Since 1964 the district has imported much of its water from the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. But as land use has been converted from agricultural to residential, water use has been reduced and the district could supply residents adequately from the San Juan Basin.
The council meets at 7 p.m. in chambers, 32400 Paseo Adelanto. Information: (949) 493-1171.
