Americans
* I do not understand why people who were born in this country want to be the only Americans. I also do not understand why Caucasians tell me “welcome to America,†when I have been in America all my life. Why is it so hard for them to admit that I am an American also? Even if I was born in Mexico, I am still considered to be an American, for the reason that Mexico is a part of the American continent.
Canadians and Mexicans have the right to be called Americans. It is a matter of fact that all citizens from Alaska to Chile are Americans. I have been in this country for 20 years. I’m about to become a U.S. citizen, not an American.
