Crawford Sets the Pace in Los Alamitos’ Victory
Matt Crawford shot a two-over 39 Thursday at the Cypress Navy Course to earn medalist honors for the first time this season and help Los Alamitos, ranked seventh in the county, defeat sixth-ranked Fountain Valley, 204-206, in a Sunset League golf match.
Crawford shared medalist honors with Jeff Greenfield of Fountain Valley (11-5, 5-3 in league).
Los Alamitos is 13-3, 6-2.
In the Century League:
Canyon 199, Villa Park 204--Scooter Baum shot a one-over 36 at Anaheim Hills to lead Canyon (11-4, 5-1) to its first victory over Villa Park (11-6, 6-1) in seven years.
In the Empire League:
El Dorado 200, Sunny Hills 216--Kevin Messenger shot a one-over 36 at Los Coyotes to help El Dorado (15-3, 8-0) win the league title. Sunny Hills (13-5, 6-2) was the two-time defending league champion.
In the Golden West League:
No. 4 Servite loses by forfeit--Ocean View (4-2 in league) won the match after Servite players arrived late for their tee time at Mile Square.
In the Orange League:
No. 2 Brea Olinda 190, Magnolia 253--Brad Sader shot par 36 for Brea Olinda (15-2, 8-0) at El Prado.
In the Pacific Coast League:
No. 8 Aliso Niguel 201, Costa Mesa 204--Mike Kendall shot a two-over 37 at Costa Mesa Mesa Linda for Aliso Niguel (12-5, 7-2). Jeff Montoya led Costa Mesa (5-8, 1-7) with a four-over 39.
In the Sea View League:
Irvine 197, Newport Harbor 200--Sophomore Jon Friedman led the field for Irvine (11-6, 5-5) with a one-over 37, earning medalist honors at Oak Creek.
In the South Coast League:
No. 5 San Clemente 195, Capistrano Valley 207--Senior Mark Warman shot a one-under 35 to medal for San Clemente (16-1, 9-0) at Pacific.
