A Montebello man who has helped the handicapped for 30 years was honored by a Boyle Heights hospital for his volunteer work.
Carlos Lozano, 59, was chosen Thursday as White Memorial Medical Center’s “Outstanding Senior of the Year” for his work with the handicapped and with mentally disabled youth, said Alicia Gonzales, a hospital spokeswoman.
Lozano spends much of his time helping youth in the East Los Angeles Volunteer Center when he is not working as a street crossing guard, Gonzales said.
“This award motivates me to do even more volunteer work,” Lozano said. “There’s so many volunteer programs that need people.”
