Punctured Lung Sidelines Green

Baltimore Raven tight end Eric Green will miss at least one game because of a puncture in his lung.

The injury occurred in the first quarter of the Ravens’ 12-8 loss to the Tennessee Oilers when Green caught a pass and landed on the football after being tackled.

New England Patriot wide receiver Vincent Brisby, sidelined most of the 1996 season because of a hamstring injury, broke his finger in a 40-10 victory over Kansas City and will be sidelined at least four weeks. . . . Pittsburgh Steeler running back Jerome Bettis, held out of the second half of a 25-20 loss to Cincinnati because of a sore knee, underwent an MRI exam on Monday, but was walking without discomfort and said he expects to play against Baltimore. Steeler linebacker Earl Holmes will be sidelined three weeks because of a broken hand. . . San Diego Charger Coach Kevin Gilbride said a decision will be made by Wednesday whether rookie Ryan Leaf or Craig Whelihan will start at quarterback against Philadelphia. Leaf had three interceptions Sunday before he was pulled in the third quarter in favor of Whelihan in the Chargers’ 7-6 loss to the Oakland Raiders.
