2 Women Hurt When Dump Truck Hits Car

Two women were seriously injured Monday morning when a dump truck hit their car on California 118 near Rose Avenue.

A three-axle truck driven by Michael Palmer, 42, of Moorpark, collided with a car driven by Rosemarie Zimmer of Port Hueneme and carrying Camarillo resident Elizabeth Limbauan, shortly after 9:30 a.m.

Traveling east on California 118, Palmer was unable to avoid hitting Zimmer as she pulled out at a stop sign, California Highway Patrol dispatcher Ray Sandoval said. As Palmer’s truck went off the road into a field, Zimmer’s car spun before coming to a rest on the shoulder of the highway east of Rose Avenue.

Zimmer, 38, suffered a fractured femur. Limbauan, 38, had a fractured tibia and also facial bone fractures. Both women were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center before being transferred to Ventura County Medical Center later Monday afternoon.

Limbauan and Zimmer were listed in stable condition Monday night, nursing supervisor Pam Wells said.

Palmer, 42, suffered only minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.

Ventura City Fire Department’s hazardous materials crew were at the accident scene first, after coming across it on the way to a training exercise in Somis. County firefighters, paramedics and CHP officers also responded.
