D.C. United Keeps Rolling in Postseason
From Associated Press
WASHINGTON — With goals from Tony Sanneh and Marco Etcheverry, D.C. United gained its 13th consecutive Major League Soccer playoff victory, defeating the Columbus Crew, 2-0, in the opener of the Eastern Conference finals Sunday.
United, seeking its third straight MLS title, can clinch the best-of-three series Sunday at Columbus, Ohio. The Crew, swept by D.C. United in the conference finals last year, has lost all eight games it has played at RFK Stadium. Sanneh didn’t start because of a strained groin that forced him to miss almost half of the season.
United keeper Tom Presthus made three saves for his second shutout in three playoff starts.
