Passenger Shot in Foot During Traffic Dispute
STUDIO CITY — A 25-year-old man was shot in the foot early Sunday after a dispute between two drivers on Laurel Canyon Boulevard, police said.
The unidentified victim was a passenger in a car traveling north on Laurel Canyon about 2 a.m. when another vehicle reportedly swerved in front of the car.
Both drivers pulled into a parking lot at the intersection of Laurel Canyon and Ventura boulevards and words were exchanged, said Los Angeles Police Officer Charlotte Broughton.
“The guys who cut them off got out of their car and said, ‘Do you have a problem?’ ” Broughton said. “Then one of them just started shooting and they took off. It sounds like a road-rage type of incident.”
Three shots were fired into the victim’s car from a semiautomatic pistol, police said.
The passenger was struck once in the foot, and a bullet grazed his head. He was treated at a local hospital and released. The driver of the car was not injured.
Authorities are searching for two suspects in a gray and black Mercedes sedan.
