The Artist Disdains Neckwear but Ties One On Anyway

As if it weren’t bad enough that Jose Rivera anointed himself an “artist” in “Suiting Up for Fall” (SoCal Style, Sept. 20)--saying, “As an artist, I should dress the way I want to dress”--he went on to voice his disdain for suits and ties while smugly modeling them. If he hadn’t worn a tie in 10 years, why was he so keen to don one then? Was the “artist’s” vision blurred by the thrill of publicity?
