Blecksmith Baffles Crusaders

J.P. Blecksmith ran for a touchdown, passed for another and intercepted a pass for a third score to lead Flintridge Prep to a 22-16 victory over Village Christian in a nonleague game Saturday night at St. Francis High.
Blecksmith scored on an 83-yard run in the second quarter and threw a 77-yard touchdown pass to Peter Twist to give Flintridge Prep (4-1) a 13-12 lead early in the third quarter.
Blecksmith completed four of 12 passes for 142 yards, all to Twist, and Blecksmith also intercepted two passes, including one that he returned 32 yards for a touchdown that finished the scoring.
Neil Gunn completed 11 of 24 passes for 115 yards with three interceptions for Village Christian (2-3). He scored the Crusaders’ first touchdown on a three-yard run.
Jason Stauffer gained 104 yards in 24 carries for the Crusaders, capping an 11-play, 81-yard drive with an eight-yard touchdown run that gave Village Christian a 12-0 lead in the second quarter.
Flintridge Prep was awarded a safety when Village Christian’s Ethan Forward fielded a punt at the three yard-line and ran backward, downing the ball in the end zone.
