Thousand Oaks 27, Rio Mesa 20--Wes Cobos scored three touchdowns, the last on a seven-yard run with 44 seconds to play, lifting the Lancers at Rio Mesa.
Cobos had 209 yards in 23 carries, his second consecutive game over 200 yards. He scored on runs of seven and 10 yards.
Rio Mesa (1-4) took a 20-19 lead on Tom Saxey’s 30-yard field goal with 3:09 to play. Saxey connected from 35 yards in the second quarter.
The Lancers (2-3), who won their second consecutive game, jumped ahead, 7-0, on their first possession on Joey Casillas’ 13-yard run.
Casillas, a senior, had 88 yards in 15 carries and the Lancers outrushed Rio Mesa, 296 yards to 136.
Rio Mesa linebacker Kevin Mack had two sacks and blocked two extra-point kicks.
