In nonleague games:
Buena 56, Channel Islands 42--Freddy Keiaho scored four touchdowns, including a 75-yard kickoff return, and D.J. Blackledge rushed for 117 yards and two touchdowns for Buena at Ventura High.
Keiaho, a sophomore, rushed for 55 yards in four carries, three of which went for first-half touchdowns.
Keiaho’s kickoff return with 4:37 to play in the second quarter gave Buena a 28-27 lead, and the Bulldogs (2-3) never trailed again.
Keiaho’s performance overshadowed Russell Patton’s 289 rushing yards and five touchdowns for Channel Islands (0-4-1). Patton, a senior running back, had scoring runs of 48, 82 and 80 yards on consecutive carries in the first half as the Raiders took a 27-21 lead.
Patton had 273 yards in his first 11 carries before suffering a bruised shin. He rushed for only 16 yards in his final 12 carries.
Channel Islands outgained Buena, 503 yards to 374, but Buena won a battle of field position. Buena’s Steven Howard kicked the ball into the end zone on eight of nine kickoffs. Buena took possession inside its 32-yard line only once.
Buena’s Kyle Loughman completed eight of 11 for 173 yards and a touchdown. Senior tight end Josh Lake had six catches for 140 yards and a touchdown.
Chris Biascan of Channel Islands rushed for 126 yards and a touchdown.
