Valencia Cashes In Quartz Hill Miscues
Manuel White rushed for 235 yards and two touchdowns in 28 carries to lead Valencia High to a 27-7 nonleague victory over host Quartz Hill on Friday night.
The Vikings (3-2) scored off three Quartz Hill turnovers.
Quartz Hill (1-4) fumbled on its first two possessions, with Valencia capitalizing both times, scoring touchdowns on a one-yard run by Brian Hamilton and a two-yard run by White to take a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.
Hamilton completed eight of 15 passes for 54 yards and one touchdown with two interceptions. He rushed 13 times for 77 yards.
White capped a 12-play, 66-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run to give the Vikings a 20-7 lead in the third quarter.
Quartz Hill scored its touchdown off a turnover when Josh Hall stole an attempted handoff from Hamilton at the Valencia 26-yard line. The Rebels scored five plays later on a nine-yard run by Kevin Williams with 9:37 left in the third quarter.
Clifton Herbert led Quartz Hill by rushing for 40 yards in 15 carries.
Rick Zeller scored Valencia’s final touchdown on an 11-yard pass play from Hamilton with 4:01 to play.
