Cypress Shuts Out Santa Ana in Soccer
Cypress peppered Santa Ana’s goal with 36 shots and the top-ranked Chargers earned their 10th shutout of the season, defeating Santa Ana, 3-0, in Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer Friday at Santa Ana.
Keeper Carolina Arroyo made 24 saves for Santa Ana. Cypress’ Maureen Ybarra made just two.
Alisha Van Tassel scored in the 36th minute and Wendy Matis and Lisa Hermen scored second-half goals for Cypress (13-0-1, 4-0).
In Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:
Irvine Valley 3, Riverside 1--Irvine Valley (12-2-1, 3-1-1) took a 3-0 lead on two goals by Chris Whitworth and one by Bobby Sadati.
