Melting Dry Ice Causes Explosion at Studio
- Share via
A small explosion at Warner Bros. studios Monday blew trash and debris out of a garbage bin and brought police and firefighters to the scene.
The explosion occurred when dry ice that had been placed in the bin melted, building up pressure and finally blowing it apart, said Burbank Police Lt. Edward Skvarna.
He said there was no fire and no injuries, although the sound of the explosion could be heard for several blocks.
Warner Bros. spokeswoman Barbara Brogliatti said the fog created by the dry ice led some to believe that the explosion had caused a fire.
