Eight Is Enough for Neal, Sylmar Runs Past Poly

Corey Neal scored eight touchdowns--seven of them in 15 rushes--to lead Sylmar High to a 55-8 rout of Poly in a Valley Pac-8 Conference opener Friday night at Poly.
Neal rushed for 105 yards and scored on runs of 2, 2, 1, 4, 5, 16 and 4 yards. He also returned a punt 71 yards for a touchdown early in the first half.
Sylmar quarterback Noah Albiston passed for 131 yards, completing six of 12 passes.
Sylmar (1-2-1) won its 61st consecutive Valley Pac-8 game. The Spartans dominated, scoring on all but two possessions and holding Poly (0-4) to 88 yards.
The Spartans also forced four turnovers, including three in the first half as Sylmar built a 42-8 lead.
Steve Smith scored Poly’s touchdown, returning a kickoff 90 yards.
