Police Sting Targets Alcohol Sales to Kids

Oxnard police have cited four bartenders on suspicion of selling alcohol to minors.
On Sept. 14, members of the Oxnard Police Department, in cooperation with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, sent youths ages 15 to 18 into 29 businesses that sell alcohol.
Police Officer Ken Klopman said those cited for allegedly selling alcohol to minors were Chad Everett Vaglica, 24, of Ventura, a bartender at the Olive Garden Restaurant, 1891 Ventura Blvd.; Joseph Daniel Burt, 25, of Oxnard, a bartender at the Hilton Hotel, 600 Esplanade Drive; William Andrew Pate, 40, of Oxnard, a bartender at Champs, 1900 S. Victoria Ave.; and Li Yan, 34, a bartender at Kampai restaurant, 2367 N. Oxnard Blvd.
All four were released on a written promise to appear in court.
Oxnard police also recently completed a decoy operation involving more than 100 establishments where alcohol is purchased for off-site consumption. Six people were cited on suspicion of selling to minors, Klopman said.
