Jasso, Martinez to Fight at Pond
Edgar Jasso, an 18-year-old from East Los Angeles, will fight Mauricio Martinez of Panama for Martinez’s North American Boxing Organization bantamweight title in tonight’s 12-round main event at the Arrowhead Pond.
Jasso (14-2-1, 12 knockouts) had his first 15 bouts in Mexicali and Tijuana because he wasn’t old enough to fight in the United States. Martinez (12-3-1, seven knockouts) won the NABO title earlier this year with a 10th-round knockout over Marcos Badillo at the Pond.
In a 10-round junior featherweight bout, Israel Vazquez (19-1, 15 knockouts) of Hacienda Heights faces Agustin Lorenzo (24-4-2, 19 knockouts) of San Diego. In another 10-round fight, junior middleweight Dwain Williams (14-2, 11 knockouts) of Los Angeles will face Luis Vazquez (28-16, 23 knockouts) of Culiacan, Mexico.
The undercard will begin at 7:15. The Jasso-Martinez fight will start at 9 p.m.
