Businessman Jack Derloshon, 69, Dies

Jack H. Derloshon, an executive with First American Financial Corp. in Santa Ana for 34 years, died at his home in Orange on Thanksgiving Day after an extended illness. He was 69.

At First American, Derloshon was senior vice president and chief financial officer and a member of the board of directors. He retired in November 1993.

A Navy veteran who served in the Korean War, Derloshon attended Loyola University, graduating in 1952. During his tenure at First American, the company grew from a local independent title company into one of the world’s industry leaders, with branch operations throughout the United States and nearly a dozen other countries.

Derloshon was active in several Roman Catholic charities in Orange County, including Casa Santa Maria and Casa Theresa, and was on the financial committee of the Diocese of Orange for many years. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, their six children and five grandchildren.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Cathedral in Orange. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the American Lung Assn., the American Diabetes Assn., the American Heart Assn., Orange County Catholic Charities or the Salvation Army.
