The city on Dec. 9 will kick off Operation Santa, an effort to provide food and toys for families in need during the holiday season. The city, along with local merchants and community volunteers, plans to serve 500 families and more than 1,600 children. Nonperishable food and new, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at the Operation Santa site at the La Habra Marketplace, 1621 W. Imperial Highway. The deadline is Dec. 18. The drive will begin at 9 a.m. Dec. 9 and include Christmas carolers and Santa’s arrival. Information: (562) 905-9708.
