27 Nonprofit Aid Agencies Are Given Kaiser Grants
In a gesture to recognize agencies that help others in the Valley, the Kaiser Permanente Medical Centers in Woodland Hills and Panorama City recently presented grants to 27 nonprofit organizations.
Kaiser Permanente is in the process of awarding nearly $300,000 in Health Partnership Awards, with honorees receiving awards worth $5,000 to $17,500, spokeswoman Linda Quon said. “We allocate funds for the health and human needs of the uninsured population,†she said.
The grants are an extension of the Kaiser Permanente Community Service Fund, a grant program that gives financial support to local nonprofit service groups.
Among the award winners are:
* Los Angeles Unified School District/Team Go to School, an attendance incentive program at six Valley high schools.
* Women Advancing the Valley Through Education, Economics, and Empowerment (WAVE), which helps domestic violence victims.
* El Proyecto del Barrio-Family Health Care Clinic, which helps provide prenatal care education for uninsured women.
* Northeast Valley Health Foundation, which provides immunizations for uninsured children.
