PLACENTIA
Placentia residents Monica and Darren Sandberg, recently trapped by flood waters from Hurricane Mitch in La Lima, are organizing a local relief effort Saturday to help victims in Honduras.
The Sandbergs had been living in Honduras for five months while Darren, 25, was on a college internship with Chiquita Brands International.
The couple, along with Monica’s parents, Steve and Rosemary Harsey, also of Placentia, have established the Tri-City Honduran Relief Effort. Chiquita Brands International is coordinating the shipping of the supplies.
Needed are food, clothing, medicine and other relief supplies.
Donations may be dropped off Saturday in Placentia, Yorba Linda and Brea between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. For locations and other information: (800) 428-4205.
