Lions Club Honors Poster Contest Winners
* The Oxnard Noontimers Lions Club has honored youngsters who took part in a poster contest for Red Ribbon Week, a national campaign dedicated to empowering youths to lead positive, drug-free lives.
Prizes were awarded to entrants according to age group.
Grades 1-2: first place, Mayra Lopez (Christa McAuliffe School); second place, Valerie Lopez (Dennis McKinna School); third place, Francine Gellada (Richard Bard School).
Grades 3-6: first place, Jessica Medrano (Kamala School); second place, Loraine Lawton (Marina West School); third place, Elizabeth Weaver (E. O. Green School).
Grades 7-9: first place, Ignacio Corbian (Frank Intermediate School); second place, Jennice Lodi (E. O. Green School); third place, Martha Mendez (Frank Intermediate School).
First-place winners received a $100 U. S. savings bond, second-place winners a $75 bond and third place a $25 bond.
