Be a Powerful Patient
Who’s in charge of your health care? Well, duh--you, of course. It’s not your doctor, not your insurance plan, not your provider. They’re your partners, but it’s you who should keep on top of your needs.
Start by understanding your health benefits. Read all the information you’re given. Know what’s covered and what’s required of you for co-payments, deductibles and other fees. Know which providers are on the plan. Know whom to call if you have questions or concerns about your coverage.
The informed patient makes for a healthier patient.
