In “A Matter of Choice” (by Kristin Hohenadel, May 24), pianist Mitsuko Uchida states that “in England--apart from Purcell and Elgar--there is not that much the English can claim.”
Has she forgotten about Thomas Arne, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Malcolm Arnold, Benjamin Britten--or does she have very little regard for those composers?
