SAUGUS — A 16-year-old Saugus High School student was charged Friday with raping a 15-year-old female classmate in a storage room during their graphic arts class, authorities said.
The district attorney’s office will seek to have the boy tried as an adult, said Sandi Gibbons, a district attorney’s office spokeswoman. He is expected to be arraigned Monday in Sylmar Juvenile Court on charges of forcible rape, kidnapping, digital penetration and false imprisonment.
The boy, whose name was not released because he is a minor, is being held at Juvenile Hall in Sylmar.
The attack occurred about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, when the boy allegedly forced the girl into a storage room adjacent to the school’s photographic darkroom and raped her.
The girl reported the attack to school officials and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The boy was arrested at the school on Wednesday, shortly after the alleged attack, Gibbons said.
